Identifying Your Personal Bias Profile
There are more than 180 documented cognitive biases. You do not need to master all of them. You need to identify the five or six that most reliably compromise your specific decision-making, and build explicit defences against those.
Why This Matters
Behavioural finance catalogues dozens of biases, but they are not uniformly distributed. Individual investors show consistent personal bias profiles — the same two or three biases that cause the same categories of error, repeatedly, across different investments and market conditions. The first step in meaningful bias correction is not studying all biases in the abstract but identifying your specific profile through honest self-examination of your actual investment history.
