Most investors manage their best positions and ignore the rest. In a momentum portfolio, the opposite is required: your winners deserve more management attention — and more capital — than your average positions.

Why This Matters

A momentum portfolio is a dynamic, actively managed system — not a collection of positions held to targets. It requires regular assessment of market conditions, individual position health, portfolio-level concentration, and correlation. The investor who treats it as a buy-and-hold portfolio will experience all the drawdowns and miss the compounding from active position management.
